ICYMI: Most popular blog posts of 2023

In case you missed it(them), here are the blog posts on my website that viewers cared about most last year!

January: 5 easy meal train dessert ideas for bakers and non-bakers (It cracks me up so much that this one always shows up in my most popular posts; check this out for luscious pictures of chocolate, if nothing else!)

February: The Smithsonian exhibit on Black midwives you can visit from your living room (This is absolutely fascinating, and a great thing to learn about any month of the year.)

March: How to tell a bereaved or infertile friend that you’re pregnant (I’m so grateful for the many folks who care so much about their grieving friends that they ask me this question, or look up the answer to this question.)

April: Goodbye, South Bend; hello, St. Louis! (I moved in July; this post tells you more about why!)

May: The ABCs of Babywearing: an internet lingo dictionary (Whenever this oldie-but-goodie ranks high in my stats, I always wonder which Facebook group used it as a reference for all the confusing acronyms on the babywearing internet; this time I knew which it was, and I was able to thank them!)

June: Pregnancy Updates for Muggles (fetal development, Harry Potter edition) (This delightful guest post from my dear friend and colleague Emily Martin is a great way for any Potterhead to follow their or their loved one’s pregnancy, or for Muggles to learn about fetal development!)

July: Got a gown? (This post provides a list of places where you can donate a prom, bridesmaid, or wedding dress – or even a tuxedo! – to be made into beautiful burial gowns for little ones. I love when this one gets views because I hope it means that people are finding beautiful purposes for the outfits they don’t need anymore.)

August: How to help a friend after the loss of a child (Here are my best suggestions for what to do and when to do it when someone you know experiences a miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.)

September: Lactate Like a Champion Today: where to nurse or pump at Notre Dame on football Saturdays (Title is pretty self-explanatory; it cracks me up that this old article got popular at the beginning of football season!)

October: What’s the deal with placenta consumption? (Heads up: there are pictures! In this post, I provide a quick literature review of the pros and cons of consuming your placenta.)

November: Not a fan of hospital pain scales? I made you these four alternatives (Shades of red, dogs, booze, and Leslie Knope. Way more fun than smiley faces.)

December: How to hire an “experienced” doula (and why maybe you shouldn’t) (My argument for the type of experience you should consider when you hire a doula.)
